my most enjoyable reads of the month…
wow! we read more great ones than i remembered this month! :D
in no particular order, from top to bottom as pictured above:
montgomery bonbon: murder at the museum, by alasDair beckett-king
a middle grade romp (i.e., appropriate for all ages, adults included) and series opener full of hilarity (+ hijinks & crime, too!!) and brilliant (also hilarious) illustrations by claire powell
HOW TO STEAL A GALAXY, by beth revis
the second in her space trilogy, this one is more or less the met gala in space. it’s funny and girl power and girl smarts and handsome rival and just all sorts of sci-fi novella goodness. (no. three in the series comes out in ONE WEEK! Yay!!)
full speed to a crash landing, by beth revis
i actually re-read this one as an audio (currently on SALE for only $3.49 here on libro.fm!) so i could read number two (and number three, on pre*order, obvs., next week!!)
the wand keepers: a sky full of dragons, by tiffany mcDaniel
another re-read via audio (on libro.fm right here!) during my solo road trip to disney world. quirky and funny and magical, and all sorts of pictures dancing in my head of things to paint and characters to create!! (no. 2 in the series comes out in september! can’t wait!!)
water moon, by samantha sotto yambao
an adult cozy fantasy set in tokyo— and mostly beyond in another realm where you can travel by rumor, get folded by an origami master, and hide from the bad guys who may or may not have kidnapped the owner of a pawnshop of human regrets…
the god of the woods, by liz moore
a re-read for book club, and man, did we have a great discussion. still have yet to meet anyone who didn’t find this book brilliant & unputdownable once we’re barreling towards the ending where our two investigations collide…
