scbwi artober 2025: in which ghost bunny appears in 31 escapades of daily prompts and giggles

a few of my faves: ghost bunny in prompts for “strange,” “stalk,” and “carve.” i always tried to NOT go with the very first idea. or to combine more than one meaning of the day’s prompt! :) i also photographed each one with the tools i used for that piece. because it seems we’re all fighting for HUMAN (or spectral bunny) ARTISTS these days. :)

it’s been eons (are we even keeping track of “time” anymore?!) since i’ve participated in an october art challenge.

but when scbwi (the society of children’s book writers and illustrators) posted their prompt list for the month, well, i didn’t resist.

i might have fallen off the wagon once or twice, but managed to catch up by the end of it.

and, as i say, “all art is practice,” it was nice to let each day be a fun, quick sketch. and not necessarily (or at all) a finished portfolio piece…

so here’s the full 31-doodle day gallery of what ghost bunny was up to this month… hope you enjoy!!

any favourites?

did you participate in any prompts or lists this month?

here are three bonus entries from when i babysat my coloring protegé/hero ghost of a nephew who made some specific ghost bunny requests… ;)

“draw ghost bunny taking a nap in a chair and reading a book!”

“draw ghost bunny driving a car!”

“oh, it’s just how i imagined it!”

“draw ghost bunny in a space ship!”

“inside the space ship, or outside floating in space?”

“inside!”

“is she wearing a helmet?”

“yes!”

*why bluesky? i don’t post art on instagram any more because ew meta/ai grossness… but art directors still find artists on social media, so… art sigh. : /
